In the Wonderland of Numbers is the story of Neha's adventures in the Kingdom of Zero.

Brief of story

“As for numbers, they hate nobody and nobody can afford to hate them,” says Neha's father, who is trying to encourage his child. Apart from tightfitting the specialties of each individual number, from zero to nine and little mathematical tricks, Shakuntala Devi (Human Computer) has highlighted another very important aspect. It is up to parents and teachers to ensure that children introduced into a lifelong friendship with numbers. An attractive child, Neha, suddenly start covering in Math, when a new Math’s teacher arrives then Neha starts changing her fear of the teacher into an apprehension of Math. Substances touch the base when she scores a zero in a test. On the way home that day, she meets with an accident. While her parents and teachers suffer a restless vigil until she regains realization, she travels to the Kingdom of Zero through her sub-conscious mind. After few moments, Neha sat on bed and waved to Shakti’s (her pet elephant) large shape, visible near the hospital gate silhouetted against the morning light. She felt completely happy.

My opinion

This book is very interesting and inspires me a lot and it has a very beautiful line, which, written by Shakuntala Devi, also known as Human Computer i.e.

‘Numbers are not symbols to be written on the blackboard… They are the doorway to the world of intellectual adventure...’  This is true in the sense that numbers are confusing to some people while some people likes to play with numbers. In the story, the writer has chosen a character called Neha who is weak in numbers and hence she always fails in math but due to constant nourishment from her teachers, parent and her sincere effort, she became the master of numbers, which she started enjoying. This made mathematics easy for her and her difficulty in number was removed. It is fantastic to play with numbers and marshal its beauty. This has been clearly viewed in the story. Therefore, this   story has inspired me a lot and I hope that the story will continue to inspire millions of people. This is a necessary read book.
